Yes Derry, There is a Santa!

Yes Derry, There is a Santa!
...and her name is Ms Hanna Rutter Martin and boy oh boy did she leave a special gift under the tree for all of Derry!
Ms. Martin has given the town an easement on 44 acres of some of the finest land in all of Derry. That's right she GAVE this gift to all of us and we thank her very much.
In a time where the all mighty dollar is king and people are buying and selling as is the American way. Every once in a great while you read stories about people who do these types of things for the benefit, for the love of community.
And to know we have those type of special people living right with us in our own town means even more about who we are as a community.
Thank-You Thank-you Thank-you! -Santa!

I decided to finally post here, because I have been watching to see if anyone had anything positive to say about this fabulous addition to our open space.

I am continually saddened by the fact that anything that has any kind of positive spin, rarely gets any attention. Are people that desirous for scandal and drama that they cant focus their energy on something uplifting and optimistic?

Few people left comments about Albert Doolittle's passing. There are certainly reams of wonderful things to say about him, his contributions to or town and to society in general, yet almost no one decided to leave their comments, add their thoughts, or speak to their remembrances of him.

And until today, ZERO people have commented on this wonderful gift to our town. A gift of protection of open space is just about the best contribution anyone could offer this town. It is a gift of history, and of the future, it benefits all of us now, and will benefit our children and grand-children in the future, whether they stay here in Derry or not.

Open your eyes people, there are more important and globally impactful things going on around you.

Take a deep breath and realize that what seems so important to you today, will mean nothing tomorrow if we don’t come together to start making real positive changes to our world and environment.

This gift is a wonderful step, and a positive example of what can happen if you step outside of your own self importance and take a look at the big picture.

Wendy, you are 'right on' and I agree with you 110%. I have been watching as well and also made note that good things get overlooked, perhaps taken for granted. I'm not sure what the rationale is.With a New Year to begin soon let's start it off by 'Celebrating Our Successes'...
Thank you to the Martin and Rutter Family.
