In watching the replay it appears a mistake was made at the end of the meeting. The roll call vote to extend for 10 minutes was voted 4-3, but the vote was 4 yes votes to 3 no votes so the meeting should have continued.
Wetherbee said No, Fairbanks said Yes,Carney said Yes, Coyle Yes, you said No,Benson No and Metts said Yes. But then he adjourned the meeting saying the motion lost 4-3.

A motion to suspend the rules of the charter limiting a council meeting to 2 ten minute extensions after 10 pm needs a 2/3 or 5-2 majority. No mistake. Just the chairman enforcing the rules Kevin and Janet love to recite and have used in the past.

Look for the charter commission to change this because it didn't work in their favor on this occasion.

Typical short sightedness on their part as they will look to change it back when it does work in their favor. Maybe at the next special election.

WAKE UP DERRY!!!!

I beleive the vote had to be 5-2 in order to extend. Please correct me BC if I am inaccurate.

However, karma has a strange way of rearing it's ugly head sometimes. I remember when JF voted not to extend a meeting when concerning the DFD contract. Her stated and on-record response was that she "Wanted to go home"...

Karma. How do you make things right?

Thanks for the clarification on the rules. If that is the rule that explains it.

i saw coyle throwing fairbanks and metts under the bus.

i hope this goes on forever...in the long run we’ll be better off…everyday it does, it becomes clearer as to who really should be removed from the council - kevin coyle. they can’t help themselves, they love the drama and the politics, but this is a massive over reach in epic proportions.

ah, the derry news editorial – how is it possible to write a detailed accounting without mentioning that coyle and cairbanks VOTED to send it to the attorney general. the obvious question that will never be asked by the derry news is this – if you now want this council investigation because you didn’t like ag’s outcome, what happens if the next investigation doesn’t come out as you want…or the one after that….or the one after that? the derry news is carrying their spit bucket.

brian, are you aware of any councilor who signed off on his/her very own personal tax abatement? if so brian, was the abatement otherwise handled under the standard procedures that are utilized for all us lowly regular folks? did a direct meeting take place between a councilor and the tax assessor advocating the abatement? was undue pressure put on the assessor? if something like this happened brian, wouldn't it be REAL CORRUPTION, involving personal financial gain, and influence peddling, abuse of power, professional ethical violations and real crimes?

has this ever happened brian?.

Good to read your article...You are surely hitting the nail right on the head. Someone needs to 'invstigate' this!

As much as I would like Coyle placed in the stocks in front of Moo's why try to tit for tat this?

Please lets move on past Maureen Rose. To do so has anybody thought to ask her what she wants out of this?

As a foil, a dupe and handpupet of the reactionary ADT, she actually thinks this is about her.

7:33 Who says it didn't work in "their favor"? Can you imagine something better than BC and BB "twisting in the wind" for another month because they are too arrogant to accept a slap on the wrist? I loved it.. wouldn't change the rules for a moment. Is there any way we can drag this into September?

And by the way, JO's indignation at being accused of being associated with the DEDC was just too good for words. I'd demand an apology too if someone associated me with that bunch. JF should make a long public apology once again explaining all the failures of that organization and expressing regret for associating JO with it.

Finally, I know this is a different thread but BC about that "mobbing"... "Paranoia strikes deep into your heart it will creep."

Couldn't organize a mob, didn't try. Not worth the effort. All your wounds were self-inflicted.

12:26 you really want this to go on forever? Me too. Let the people wonder why councilors who gush apologies refuse to accept a simple censure. (“I’m sorry but don’t accept the blame?” Wow.) BB thinks that private conspiracies are okey dokey and that fault lies with people who make the conspiracies public. Interesting position. BC is his own worst enemy...Salem Witch Trial… nice touch, if you are a masochist. With BC on his side BB is completely screwed. RM just wants it all to go away and NW is waiting for instructions, as usual. JF wants to torture the boys (just because they deserve it) and KC sits happily on the sidelines watching the political carnage. BC mostly wants to be reelected. I subscribe to Comcast just so that I can watch the spectacle. I can only hope that it becomes a series.

I consider myself a casual observer and I find it real peculiar that the Council voted 7-0to handle it a cetain way.

I understand that some people in the public disagreed with that way of handling it, but the Council DID vote it that way unamimously. Even if it wasn't unamanimous, the Councils action should be respected.

So I come down on the side that it has already been addressed by the Council and it's time to move on.

10:28 Are you aware that the council voted that way on the recommendation of the town's legal counsel? To have voted any other way would have been to override that recommendation. While some of us are not impressed with the cost/benefit of that legal firm, we should at least take those recommendations into consideration.

Perhaps you are right about moving on. To even the most casual observer, BC's and BB's true characters have been revealed.

Are these streams/videos on a public server or are these on a private server?

Do they also stream live?

I don't have cable or any TV, so I don't get to watch these meetings.

Please let me know if you can ...

Nick

I apologize for the off topic post, but I can't help myself.

I just finished reading the Derry News: Letters to the Editor from July 16th. As if reading Mr. Coyle's thoughts on the current leadership of the Town Council wasn't enough, he goes so far as to state, "The only thing that seems important to Mr. Metts is to get water and sewer brought to Clam Haven on 28". I have read this over and over and can't fathom the idea that a small time developer, whose household income is derived by taxpayer money has the audacity to call out other councilors hidden agendas! Mr. Coyle is your name BIG enough to get that County Attorney job yet??

Fortuneately his biggest cheerleader, Ms. Fairbanks, is there to keep her friend Ms. Rose in the news at a feeble attempt to keep the 'negative' publicity going. Freedom of speech? Really? Brad and Brian must have given that priviledge up when others eaves dropped into their private conversation, then blackmailed them into an apology!

But fear not the best part of the entire paper, Mr. Newell lists the nine members the ADT is supporting for Charter Commission August 4th! Thank you Mr. Newell, now all voters know who NOT to vote for too!

The links are from C17's site. They do not stream live, however they are usually up within a day or two of the actual meeting.

For the puposes of looking at Kevin Coyles personal property taxes, can anyone tell me what the street addresses for his personal AND BUSINESS properties are?

Article in Boston Herald about NH wooing MA business to NH. Is Derry on the map of places being shown to these potential transplants this time around?

Brian,

Just at the time that this blog can be communicating regarding the charter commission vote you go quiet?

What are you a Kevin Coyle mole?

Get back to work updating this blog BC or the circling posse is going to lynch you in the town square. You are going to have to enter the witness protection program if Fairbanks and Dimmock get you AND the charter commission vote in their hands.

is this blog dead?

No not dead... took a short vacation.

2 Armed Robberies on Keene bikepath

http://www.wmur.com/news/20278793/detail.html

Anonymous said...

KEENE, N.H. (AP) -- Police in Keene, N.H., say three men have robbed two people on a bike path in the past two weeks.

Police said a man on a bicycle was attacked July 20 by the three men in hooded sweatshirts on the path. WMUR reports the bicyclist told police the men threatened him with a knife and made him empty his pockets.

On Sunday, police said another person was robbed in the same area. Three men wearing hooded sweatshirts stole a fanny pack.

Both robberies happened during the day. Police said the victims described the men as wearing sunglasses and having their hoods pulled up, covering most of their facial features. One man, wearing a gray sweatshirt, had what appeared to be a teardrop tattoo under his right eye.

Brian - how about a post on what people think about the elected slate of candidates for the Charter Commission - seems like this might actually be a "bi-partisan" committee. Now let's see if they can work together and make a stronger Charter.
